HARTING expanded its PreLink® PCB and introduced PreLink® Ethernet connectivity technology. To demonstrate this technology, HARTING began establishing its PreLink® cabling system in the spring of 2018. As a result, cabling systems will become truly universal solutions for IT, building automation and industrial applications. It is also the ideal solution for many situations. There is also a new M12 cable socket for wall ducting and a board socket for direct mounting of the connector module (the core of the PreLink system).
The special function of the PreLink® system is to separate the fixed and inseparable connection between the cable and the connector into two separate units. In the past, cables and connectors could only be connected once, and PreLink® turned them into two detachable units. The first unit consists of connectors, sockets, hub parts, and printed circuit boards that are connected to the same connector as the PreLink® connector module.
The connector module is the second unit – the core component of the system. It can accommodate up to eight strands or solid conductors that can be simultaneously cut and connected with pliers in one operation. The cable can be fitted to any PreLink® component and can be inserted or removed and replaced at any time, with full reliability and field assembly. This means that the cables and connectors can be replaced individually or separately.
The modular system is already available for tested and tested IP20 rated RJ45 solutions, as well as a waterproof PushPull connector or jack for connection to M12 connectors, or as a line extension extender. In order to further meet the system requirements of equipment developers, HARTING added an M12 socket that can also be used as a wall trucking in the spring of 2018 for the expansion of the PreLink® combination. But at this year’s Hannover Messes, the PreLink key feature was the direct connection of the PreLink® connector module to the board via the PreLink® PCB socket. This feature provides device developers with a quick way to make secure Ethernet connections using a board. Unlike a hardwired connection, the connection can be replaced at any time.
The HARTING pre-assembled PreLink® cable allows users to enjoy a completely reliable and user-friendly connection technology. For sensitive systems such as fire protection and other safety applications, it can help reduce related problems caused by increased wiring errors. Adding a PCB jack makes the PreLink® system a truly comprehensive cabling solution for 1/10Gbit Ethernet.
