Munich, Germany – 6 October 2017 – Yesterday, XMOS launched its VocalFusion 4-Mic Dev Kit for Amazon Alexa Voice Service (AVS) for far-field applications. The kit integrates Infineon’s high SNR microphones to ensure highest performance and reliability. XMOS now offers the first Amazon AVS development kit with a linear mic array for far-field applications. The 4-Mic Development Kit features crystal clear voice capturing even in noisy environments. This enables commands to be accurately captured from across the room for processing by the Alexa cloud-based speech recognition system.

The combination of XMOS processing power, algorithm know how and Infineon’s microphone hardware is a perfect fit for a far-field voice user interface solution for applications using multiple microphones.

“The combination of Infineon’s high-performance microphones and XMOS’ VocalFusion processors has allowed us to develop very compelling far-field voice capture solutions that, until now, have been difficult to deliver”, said Mark Lippett, President and CEO of XMOS.
Infineon’s microphones provide very low self-noise (69 dB SNR), distinguished microphone to microphone phase and sensitivity matching as well as fast signal conversion for low latency, ensuring  excellent hit rate and extended voice pick-up distance for far-field applications.
“The combination of XMOS processing power, algorithm know how and Infineon’s microphone hardware is a perfect fit for a far-field voice user interface solution for applications using multiple microphones”, commented Dr. Roland Helm, Head of Sensor Business unit at Infineon. “With that, we can meet the expectations of ambitious end users.”
Last month, Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) announced a strategic investment in XMOS, with the target to bring solutions for enhanced human machine interaction to the next level. Addressing the voice interface market is the first step of the partnership which will focus on making the communication between humans and smart devices as seamless as possible in future.
Availability
The VocalFusion 4-Mic Kit for Amazon AVS (XK-VF3000-L33-AVS) is immediately available to developers, OEMs, and ODMs from Digi-Key at www.digikey.com/xmos-avs.
