According to Made in China 2025 – Sichuan Action Plan, Sichuan aims to lead in the manufacturing drive in West China among neighboring provinces by focusing on industry transformation and upgrade, enhancing core competitiveness, strengthening the integration of ICT and manufacturing sectors, adopting ICT technologies more widely, promoting smart transition, and encouraging advanced technologies. Meanwhile, Chongqing, a close neighbour and a key economic force in Western China, has developed the Recommendations of Accelerated Cultivation of Ten Emerging Industries, covering new materials and new energy sources, among others. The Chongqing document identifies the ten emerging industries as top priorities for future industry development. Against the backdrop of the integration of ICT and industrialization processes, West China is nurturing a world-class electronics industry base.
The NEPCON West China Summit that took place in Chengdu 15-16 June, 2017, connected local electronics manufacturers with procurement channels, thus providing the final mile of connectivity required by the ICT ambition in West China.
The summit and new tech seminar, organized by NEPCON across China and SMT China, and supported by CCPIT Chengdu Branch (Chengdu Expo Bureau), Chengdu Auto Industry Institute, Chengdu ICT Association, Sichuan Provincial Panel Display Industry Association, and Sichuan Provincial Electronics Society SMT Committee, provided a top platform for ICT exchange and industry development in Western China. During the two-day event, lively discussions took place around SMT, welding and glue spray, test and measurement, electronics materials, EMA, and other hot topics. Technologies and insights were shared with over 670 professionals.
Throughout the two-day discussion, speakers shared insights on a range of topics covering processes, solutions, technologies, and industry comparison between China and the international market.ASM Assembly Systems Ltd. SMT Solutions Marketing Manager Xu Ji broke down the manufacturing process into four steps of planning, preparation, implementation, and optimization. He talked about the feasibility of smart applications in each step as well as related solutions. NordsonEFD Application Technology Manager Feng Shaoxu focused on typical precision fluid dispensing in the consumer electronics sector. Building on his 16 years of industry experience, he explained about choosing valves to fit with the glue. He also talked about the comparison between contact and spray dispensing.
