IP67, IP40 and ultra-low current versions; suit automotive, medical and industrial markets

May 2017 – The new KMR Series of microminiature top-actuated tactile switches from C & K is now available at TTI, Inc., a world leading specialist distributor of electronic components.  The KMR Series includes IP40, IP67 and ultra-low current versions to suit a very wide variety of different markets and can be designed into many applications, including those exposed to harsh environmental conditions. In particular, the automotive, medical and industrial markets need compact, highly reliable products that in addition, often need to be waterproof or fluid resistant and fit tightly populated PCBs.

C & K’s KMR Series switches have a footprint of only 4.2mm x 2.8mm and are available in two heights, 1.9mm or 2.5mm, saving space and weight where board space is constrained. They feature a tactile feel of more than 30% and boast ultra-low current consumption. Four actuation forces are offered the KMR Series, ranging from 1.2N to 4N. Constructed with silver or gold plating, these robust microminiature switches have an extended operational life of up to 300,000 operations.

The KMR Series 2 microminiature switch is a top actuated, IP40-rated, momentary action switch for surface mounting.  It is 1.9mm high, available in silver and gold options, with or without a ground pin.  The KMR 4 Series is also a surface-mount, top actuated switch with ultra-low current capabilities, down to 1mA.  Again available in silver and gold versions, it is 2.5mm high and supplied on tape and reel packaging for automated assembly.  Typical applications for the KMR 4 Series include automotive, industrial electronics and medical equipment.

For applications which need to be watertight, the KMR 6 Series is rated IP67 and available in standard and long life versions. This Series is 1.9mm high, has no ground pin, ultra-low current capabilities and an excellent tactile feel to suit typical applications in the automotive, medical and consumer industries. KMR Series 7 microminiature switches are also waterproof and rated IP67, with similar features to the Series 6, but are 2.5mm high.

To complete the range, the KMR 8 Series switches feature a hard actuator with excellent tactile feel. Three actuation forces are available.   This IP40 switch can be supplied with or without a ground pin and suits applications such as automotive and medical equipment, mobile phones and industrial electronics.
