Dedicates NIIT.tv – a disruptive innovation by NIIT towards achieving the country’s skills target

NIIT Limited, a global leader in skills and talent development, congratulated the government on the successful completion of one year of the Skill India initiative. Reiterating its commitment to train young Indians across various sectors of the economy, the company dedicated NIIT.tv – a disruptive innovation by NIIT, towards achieving the skilling target of the nation.
To commemorate the 1st anniversary of Skill India, Honourable President Shri Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated the 1st edition of India Skills Competition on the occasion on World Youth Skills Day in the capital today.

NIIT.tv is offering over 5400 live and on-demand courses, thereby removing the barriers of time, place and language, to make skill based training available to every Indian for free.”

NIIT.tv – a disruptive innovation by NIIT for the education space, delivers for the very first time, skill-based live courses as well as on-demand courses to the masses, through the digital medium. It is an innovative initiative providing video based online training for free, which can be accessed from anywhere, anytime, any device (Desktop, Tab, Mobile), Windows or Android having access to Internet. NIIT.tv app is also available for Android devices which can be downloaded from Google Play store for free. Launched on October 6, 2015, NIIT.tv already has a reach in over 160 countries which includes 2000+ cities and 6 continents, with a total of over 240,000 registered users, and a total offering of 5400+ Live and On-demand courses.
NIIT Yuva Jyoti Limited (NYJL) – a joint venture of NIIT and NSDC, has trained aspiring students under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), across three sectors – Telecom, Retail & IT in North East, Jammu &Kashmir and Jharkhand. PMKVY Scheme is a flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), implemented by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). Further complementing the government’s drive, to skill India, NIIT is also participating in the country’s flagship welfare schemes like Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) and National Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM). The skill development initiatives of NIIT span across India, in states like Bihar, Gujarat, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orrisa, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
In the coming year, NYJL will intensify its involvement in the above schemes as well as the reach of NIIT.tv. It will also further extend scope of its activities to support other important government existing and new schemes like the Udaan program, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK), Atal Incubation centre, Minority-MANAS, Employment linked Skill Training Programme (ELSTP), PMKVY-IInd phase. In addition, it will expand into many new sectors like Beauty and Wellness, Construction, Logistics and Tourism.
Earlier in 2011, NIIT entered into a significant public-private partnership with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), to enhance skills and employability for youth across India. NIIT Yuva Jyoti Limited (NYJ) will help youth chart ambitious careers by opting for programs that best suit their aptitude. NYJ centres imparts skills training across 9 service sectors – Retail, IT/ITeS, BFSI, Education & Training Services, Media & Entertainment, Healthcare, Telecom, Hospitality and the Informal sector. The courses will enhance employability skills of students by offering occupational, communication, and professional and life skills to make them industry ready. The students will also enjoy the benefits of certification and placement assistance.
