Program contributes to skill development and provides employment opportunities to the disadvantaged
NOIDA, INDIA, September 29, 2015 — Cadence Design Systems (India) Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Cadence, announced that it has partnered with ICARE Hospital NOIDA to establish an 18-month course for underprivileged children focused on nursing assistant training in the field of ophthalmology. The course, launched earlier this month and founded with an investment of Rs 18 Lakh from Cadence, has enrolled 30 boys and girls in the first year and will be conducted in the ICARE Hospital facility in NOIDA. The course, called the Vision Technician Training course, has been certified by Healthcare Sector Skill Council (HSSC). In addition to nursing curriculum, the course will include lessons in English and computer skills which will provide holistic training that will prepare the students to enter into professional service. At the end of the 18-month course, the graduates can expect to get jobs as ophthalmic nursing assistants in polyclinics and hospitals.
Speaking about the program, Jaswinder Ahuja, Corporate Vice President and Managing Director of Cadence Design Systems (India) Pvt. Through this course, we are able to provide skill development that will enable students from disadvantaged backgrounds to become financially independent in a relatively short space of time, while also living a life of dignity and contributing to society.”
Dr. Sushil Choudhry, Managing Trustee of ICARE Eye Hospital and Post Graduate Institute (a unit of Ishwar Charitable Trust), said, “ICARE Hospital is pleased to partner with Cadence to train 30 students enrolled in the Vision Technician Course. The students, all of whom are from disadvantaged backgrounds, will undergo a comprehensive training that will cover refraction and examination of diseases of the eye. Upon successful completion of the course, the graduates will be an asset to any eye hospital or department. We feel proud to be able to contribute to the skill development of the country through these young men and women.”
The students accepted in the first batch have been selected based on their aptitude and have all passed Class 10, with some having completed Class 12 as well.
