Sterling and Wilson, part of Shapoorji Pallonji Group and one of India’s leading solar EPC with over 350MW of solar projects on ground, has recently set up a 32 MW Solar Power Plant for Clean Solar Power (Dhar) Pvt. Ltd. a SPV floated by Hero Future Energies at Goyalkhedi / Kamlakhedi village, Alot Tehsil, Ratlam District in Madhya Pradesh. The project was awarded to Clean Solar Power (Dhar) Pvt. Ltd., under Phase 2 Batch 1 of JNNSM with 10 MWp under Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) and remaining 22 MWp under Open Content Requirement (OCR). Sterling and Wilson’s scope of work for Hero Future Energies solar project included design, engineering, supply, fabrication, construction, inspection, installation, testing and commissioning of their complete solar power plant that spreads across 171.60 acres of land.
Speaking on the completion of the 32 MW solar power plant that has been set up for Hero Future Energies, Mr. Bikesh Ogra, President, Sterling and Wilson, Electrical & Solar Business said, “Being India’s leading Solar EPC solutions provider Sterling and Wilson has always strived to provide its Clients with competitive and world class solar power generation plants. Our vast experience helps us in delivering all of our projects on or before time, thereby creating further value for our esteemed clients. We are happy that Hero Future Energies chose us as their preferred partner for setting up their solar power plant in MP. We look forward to providing Hero Future Energies with innovative solar solutions in the near Future.”
The major engineering challenge faced by Sterling and Wilson in this project was that the site had a 20 meter wide rainfed stream running from North to South dividing the plant in two parts with an elevation difference of 22 meters. Drawing from their vast experience in setting up solar power plants across the country the array layout was prepared as per the site contours without affecting the yield and natural rain water flow. Sterling and Wilson also provided a drainage system along the internal roads for discharge of rain water into the existing natural streams thus ensuring the natural eco system and village water sources remain undisturbed. The cabling system installed by Sterling and Wilson were designed considering minimum losses which otherwise would have required two evacuation systems for power.
Speaking on the occasion of commissioning CEO and ED of Hero Future Energies Mr. Sunil Jain commented, “Hero Future Energies in partnership with Sterling and Wilson has been able to commission the project by March 31st 2015 which is well ahead of JNNSM timeline of April 28th 2015. We appreciate Sterling and Wilson’s professional work in timely completion of the project.”
Sterling and Wilson has used the fixed tilt technology for mounting solar PV panels for optimal solar irradiance in this project based on the geographical location of the plant. The entire solar power plant for Hero Future Energies from signing of the contract to the commissioning of the project was completed in a short span of 135 days.
