Q1. Please share with us your vision to participate in India Smart Grid week and response you are receiving.
Events like India Smart Grid Week provide a very relevant platform for providing exposure to the niche technologies and updates about India’s Smart Grid journey. OMRON’s corporate core value is to work for the benefit of the society & innovation driven by social needs. Power losses are one of the most important societal issues in India and so OMRON participated in the event to showcase how its products can be helpful in solving this issue and how it can benefit the Indian society in the long run.
Q2. Please share with us your views on Need for ‘Optimization of energy in India’ and How OMRON’s take on it.
This is the need of the hour. Reports say that though India operates as the fourth largest power system in the world, our per capita consumption of electricity is one-fourth of the world average and one-third of our population have no access to electricity. Some of the key factors contributing towards this issue are technical and non-technical losses including power pilferage. Power is the backbone of the infrastructure of any industry and so being the fastest growing economies of the world, energy optimization holds a lot of importance for India. The Ministry of Power strives to enable programs and projects in distribution utilities to reduce AT&C losses to below 15% by 2017, below 12% by 2022, and below 10% by 2027. As mentioned above, Omron is working towards creating products and solutions in optimal energy management to address these issues which will be truly beneficial to the Indian society in the long run.
Q4. Please tell us the growth plans of OMRON in coming years. Please share with us some of the planned innovations from OMRON?
As part of its key strategy towards 2020, where Omron try to create value to our customers and society in large, a lot of initiatives will be undertaken. We are a global company, and our sales network spreading across the globe helps us to attend efficiently any global customers who have operations in India.
Q6. What did OMRON thinks about its social – liability to generate awareness towards optimization of energy. Is there any social event or collaboration OMRON is working with Govt or other organizations to help India meeting its crucial power crises.
The journey has just begun. We are extremely positive and have already started connecting with many relevant organisations to work together towards this objective.
