TE Connectivity Launches Autosafe Kit to Make Aftermarket Auto Repairs Safer

New toolkit assists OEM dealers and technicians with proper repair of wire harnesses and cable assembly repairs

Bangalore, Karnataka, India:

TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity, today announced the launch of the Autosafe Kit for OEM dealers and automotive technicians that enables safer repair of wire harnesses and cable assemblies. The Autosafe Kit allows service providers to refurbish small circuits to the desired factory-level crimping.
Safety is becoming more important due to the growing trend of electronification in cars, with wire tampering growing as a major repair hazard. With more Indian consumers opting for aftermarket accessories such as stereos, reverse parking sensors and security systems, improper handling of wires while fitting these accessories is typically the main cause of electric system failures in vehicles.“Crimping is the foundation for any wire-to-wire connectivity, and improving factory-level crimping at service stations will ensure safer connectivity while adding accessories after purchase,” said Viswanath S, director, TE Automotive in India. “Service centres play an important role in aftermarket services and having the right tools and expertise will be the differentiating factor for better service.”

TE Autosafe KitThe components of the tool kit include:

– Hand-crimpers – to enable connection of wires with good mechanical strength as well as perfect electrical connection
– Extraction tools for terminals – to reuse the terminals and connectors without damaging them
– Wire-cutter cum stripper- to cut and strip the wire to make a connection (in case of damaged wires)
– Hot Air Gun
– Customer Manual
