Lightning surge protection for Ethernet and WAN/LAN equipment, switching systems, and computers

China, Beijing, March 17, 2015 — Littelfuse, Inc., the global leader in circuit protection, has introduced the SLVU2.8-8 Series 2.8V, 30A TVS Diode Array (SPA® Diodes), designed to protect low voltage CMOS devices from damage caused by ESD and lightning-induced transients. When compared to similar market solutions, SLVU2.8-8 Series provides circuit designers with 25 percent higher power handling capability, which offers more overhead to electrical threats. It also provides 57 percent lower capacitance than other solutions, which helps preserve signal integrity and minimize data loss.
Littelfuse SLVU2.8-8 SeriesTypical applications for the SLVU2.8-8 Series include protection of 10/100/1000 Ethernet equipment; WAN/LAN equipment; switching systems; desktops, servers, and notebooks; analog inputs and base stations.
“A compensating diode is located in series with each low voltage TVS diode to present a low loading capacitance to the line being protected,” said Tim Micun, product manager for the TVS Diode Arrays line. “These AEC-Q101 qualified device can safely absorb repetitive ESD strikes at ±30kV and dissipate up to 30A with very low clamping voltages.”

All SLVU2.8-8 Series TVS Diode Arrays offer these key benefits:

• With 25 percent more power handling capability than similar market solutions, they provide more overhead to electrical threats.
• With capacitance of just 2.6pF per line, which is 57 percent lower than other solutions, they help preserve signal integrity and minimize data loss while offering a more robust device against electrical threats.
• Enhanced ESD capability (±30kV contact, ±30kV air) far exceeds the highest level of the IEC 61000-4-2 standard (±8kV), providing maximum reliability for equipment during installation and servicing.
• Low dynamic resistance (RDYN) of 0.3Ω provides the optimal clamping voltage for sensitive chipsets, protecting them from catastrophic failure and maximizing system up time and reliability.
