International innovation contest gives sneak peek at startups and unveils physical and interactive display ROBOCHOP at the CODE_n exhibition at CeBIT
Stuttgart, 5th March 2015 – CODE_n CONTEST, the global innovation platform and competition for technology startups reveals the latest designs for its ROBOCHOP installation in Hall 16 at Hannover tech show CeBIT, representing this year’s theme of “Into the Internet of Things”.
CODE_n’s physical representation of the Internet of Things is already a key talking point in the lead up to the show. GFT have commissioned the internationally acclaimed design duo Clemens Weisshaar and Reed Kram to design a piece that captures the potential of a connected industry 4.0. The robotic interactive installation ROBOCHOP heralds The Internet of Things – using pioneering technology to connect anyone in the world with heavy industrial fabrication technology. It allows internet users worldwide to remotely control four giant industrial robots to manufacture customised objects – the pieces will be mailed to their designers anywhere in the world upon completion – free of charge.

This year, the contest has welcomed startups with innovations in the areas of Smart Cities, Digital Life and tech wearables, Smart Car technology and Industry 4.0/manufacturing. Chosen by the judges the 50 IoT pioneering finalists from around the globe will be showcasing their technology to investors, the media and large corporates at CeBIT. The winning startup will receive international attention and €30,000 to drive their IoT business forward and develop their winning concept further.
“CODE_n stands for code of the new and as an innovation platform it practices what it preaches, constantly growing, innovating and evolving. The contest itself was a quest to find the greatest innovators within the startup community and its finale in CeBIT over the years has built to a grand and breathtaking scale. The Internet of Things is creating the opportunities for today and shaping the future of what is possible for our lives and our communities on local, national and ultimately global scale. At CODE_n you will meet the startups leading that innovation.” says Ulrich Dietz, CEO of the GFT Group and initiator of CODE_n.

It was well worth the trip as our deal pipeline now owes a lot to CODE_n.”
