New Delhi, August 12, 2014: True to its philosophy of giving back to the society, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd. (TPDDL) today launched a mega Corporate Social Responsibilitycampaign named Haath Batata, Haath Badhata – Hamesha Aapka Saath Nibhata. It is a first of its kind CSR campaign by any power distribution company that will consist of activities which are likely to benefit people from all walks, particularly, economically and socially backward residing in JJ Clusters and Resettlement Colonies.
To begin with, TPDDL launched an Aadhar Card enrolment camp for the residents of Wazir Pur JJ Cluster beginning today and would continue it for the next two days. The three day camp is expected to help a large number of JJ residents to get enrolled for Aadhar Card, which is increasingly being sought for all official and identification purposes.
If providing identity is high on the agenda of TPDDL, health and hygiene is not far behind. For this purpose, TPDDL has joined hands with Max India Foundation to organize free Health Check Camps in two phases in the month of August and September. The Camps will be held at Shalimar Bagh BG block JJ cluster; Haiderpur Village and Ambedkar Nagar JJ cluster on 25th, 27th and 28th August respectively. Besides this, the Camps will also focus on spreading awareness regarding Dengue and ways to fight the disease.
With a view to enable girls and women protect themselves; TPDDL is also tying up with Security Agencies to organize a Self Defence Training for Women. Any female above the age of 15 years would be eligible to participate in the training, which will be organized at different places during the month of September.
Commenting upon the roll-out and the objective of the Mega CSR Campaign, Mr. Praveer Sinha, CEO&ED, TPDDL, said “As a part of the Tata Group, we at TPDDL believe in reaching out to the communities we operate in. We always endeavor to contribute towards the upliftment of the society and have taken several initiatives towards this end in the past. The mega campaign – Haath Batata, Haath Badhata – Hamesha Aapka Saath Nibhata is an extension of our earlier efforts and will be organized on a much larger platform. We are confident that our proposed initiatives like Aadhar Camp, Health Check-up camp and Self-Defence training among others will go a long way in helping people belonging to the weaker section of the society and thereby make Delhi a better place to live in.”
TPDDL would also conduct several other activities in coming months ranging from vocational training to activities for children residing in JJ Cluster and Resettlement Colonies. The protection of environment is also high on company’s agenda and for this, TPDDL will undertake a campaign to make Delhi University area plastic free during the month of September 2014.
